6/4/08

Yay cheap margarita day!

My friend and I spent the day walking and flyering and drinking. Cafe Mariposa has a BYOB policy (that is probably only allowed in the evenings) but we decided to take advantage of it at 1 in the afternoon. Although they are called a cafe, they didn't have much food. I guess the pizza just wasn't ready when we first got there. I got this really tiny salad, which ended up being DELICIOUS. I highly suggest it. It is the only salad and it is like $3.25.

Wednesday is cheap margarita day at Barragan's. Basically, hipsters flood this Mexican restaurant to get really drunk and then flock to nearby bars like the Shortstop or Little Joy. You get carded at the door and get this super cool wristband (almost as cool as the one I got last night at The Standard).

The first time I went to Barragan's I was really confused because all the White people were in one area and all the Brown people were in another area. I am brown but I was there with a white person and so we sat together somewhere in the middle. I thought segregation ended; I am kind of joking, but it is really interesting how people separate, whether consciously or unconsciously.

After we got our margarita fix, my friends and I walked across the street to Cafe Mariposa to watch Not the Government, who are playing there every Wednesday. Fun fun photos here!
